Diabetic Retinopathy

Eyesight Problems: Diabetic Retinopathy

This usually involves bleeding at the retina and sometimes may need treatment at the eye hospital otherwise this may lead to loss of vision.  It is important for all Diabetic patients to have their eyes examined every year to check for changes at the retina.  It is important to keep the diabetes under control, as raised blood sugar levels can cause blurred vision.  Normally we dilate these patients to get a better view of the fundus.

Remember - people with diabetes can have free eye examinations by their optometrist.
